A Divided Country

America, we are a divided country; a divided people.

“You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may surely reprove your neighbor, but shall not incur sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord (Leviticus 19:17-18 NASB).”

We must follow the law of love.

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law (Romans 13:9b-10 NASB).”

Are we lawbreakers?

There is a break from God’s standards, a break from absolutes.

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
And clever in their own sight (Isaiah 5:20-21 NASB)!”

Father, give us sight to see our sin. We need vision to light our way to restoration.

“Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained,
But happy is he who keeps the law (Proverbs 29:18 NASB).”
