Doing Time

Know anyone who is doing time?

Countless families are broken and brokenhearted. A spouse, parent, child or close relative is incarcerated in a state penitentiary. In addition, Christians are persecuted for their faith in many foreign lands. These prisoners are innocent of any crimes.

“Let brotherly love continue. Don’t neglect to show hospitality, for by doing this some have welcomed angels as guests without knowing it. Remember the prisoners, as though you were in prison with them, and the mistreated, as though you yourselves were suffering bodily (Hebrews 13:1-3 HCSB).”

How can we remember the prisoners?

We can remember to lift their names and concerns to God in prayer.

“Pray constantly.
Give thanks in everything,
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 HCSB).”

If addresses are available, we might send letters and cards of encouragement.

You may be an individual, family or church called by God to a local prison ministry. Most jails and prisons welcome volunteers.

Remember the prisoners…
