Went to a pastors meeting today - we had a Christian Lawyer speak to us about marriage (it is Valentines Day this week) and divorce. First he said there is no such thing as a "Biblical Divorce", though he will represent people for divorce. Second - He informed two things about marriage: a) NY State does not permit an officiant who received an ordination thur the Internet as valid, and in the future - it could cause some real problems. b) he mentioned that some pastors say they will not marry a couple with a state-issued a marriage license. The Lawyer told us that in NY State - that is a misdemeanor and subject (in NY) to a fine of not less than $50 and no more than $500.
