The Rush

People will soon be rushing to Barber shops and hair salons. It has been months since we've had our hair cut.

The California Gold Rush will pale in comparison. We need our turn in the chair. I wonder how many before and after pics will go viral.

I'm needing my hair cut. Wow; that’ll be a load off my mind! Absalom, son of King David, lightened his load.

“No man in all Israel was as handsome and highly praised as Absalom. From the sole of his foot to the top of his head, he did not have a single flaw. When he shaved his head—he shaved it every year because his hair got so heavy for him that he had to shave it off—he would weigh the hair from his head and it would be five pounds according to the royal standard (2 Samuel 14:25-26 HCSB).”

The husband of my oldest sister served on an US Air Force base in Turkey. Donna shared a story about something that occurred while they were living there. Along with his buddies, her husband shaved his head. She hated seeing him bald and said she made him wear his cap in bed. His hair loss got him in big trouble. Absalom’s long hair left him out on a limb.

“Absalom was riding on his mule when he happened to meet David’s soldiers. When the mule went under the tangled branches of a large oak tree, Absalom’s head was caught fast in the tree. The mule under him kept going, so he was suspended in midair (2 Samuel 18:9 HCSB).”

Midair by hair; excuse the pun.
