‘What I did on my Christmas vacation’…

It was a no brain-er. The teacher wrote the assignment and required word count on the chalk board. With Christmas vacation still fresh in the student’s memories, they grabbed pencils or pens and got to work.

Vacation had allowed the cessation of school day studies and homework. Teachers and students rested; they followed the Biblical pattern of work and rest.

“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made (Genesis 1:31-2:3 KJV).”

What did ‘you’ do on your Christmas vacation?

Do you feel rested?

Worn to a frazzle?

Jesus offers rest and restoration.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30 KJV).”
